so this seems to be the newest mode of our reality
it feels like this has accelerated recently as we begin to understand the long term implications of our situation
we've (us human beings, the networked cyborg) got past a lot of the obvious bloopers, no trousers etc & so now this is our ocean, at least those of us with data credit

the poetry session last night was brilliant, thirdform also - i often wondered about how this place might translate onto the video grid - like luke says we should do lots more

I'd never used it before last night. I like having everyone on mute and they're forced to listen to me, like a form of collective punishment

As Barty said it solves the authority problem. You're here to listen to me, not to pretend to be my peer.

someone said the same at the tech conference i have been at, it feels like punishment to be forced to interact in this limited way

there are lots of combintions - doesnt have to be one person broadcasting, but it's hard to have lateral conversations
all dissensus people did a runner when we split into small groups last night
maybe because of shyness, lots of faces stayed hidden

Yeah, the groups didn't even last we decided it didn't work and I carried on talking!

I assume it's very hard to have free conversation with more than about four people

it's making us think about the ways we take tech for granted
and that we take for granted a lot of aspects of physical togetherness that are suddenly missing
i have a very brightly coloured hat to wear, even for very po-faced serious meetings

(when all of human interaction becomes screen based we will need to burn the entire planet just to power our apparatuses)

I think a problem for me is that it reminds me of work too much.

I’ve also found when doing video chat with mates that it ends up with everyone listening to the loudest person rather than periodically splintering into little cheeky sub convos like irl.

That said I’ve been quite into the Tusk festival these last two weeks.
