Trilliam Explains House

Continuum's mix of the best of 201? was a turning point for me. I remember listening to that mix and Danny Glover by Young Thug and No Type by RaeSremmurd at a party, totally buzzing on pills. One last hurrah.

I dunno if thats specific to deep tech granted. I think it's the case in more mainstream dance scenes as well. But it's an interesting dynamic. We won't be seeing benny's classic london deep tech sets account.

For me deep tech is like dubstep (though I was much more info dubstep) in that when I was into it it sounded and seemed exciting but now I very rarely if ever listen to it.

Perhaps because both were (to me) very functional genres, connected with the ever present prospect of going clubbing, and so divorced from that context they sound too stripped back and austere to be of much interest.

Going to a deep tech night in Tottenham in (again I don't know the year, maybe 2015?) was the most exciting club experience I'd had since going to DMZ and FWD back in 2007. And increasingly it looks like it's the LAST exciting club experience I'll ever have. Get your tiny violins out for the lads.

In the seeming absence of classic sets (just had a look on my old HD and nope, slim pickings I'm afraid) maybe we can post a best of selection here? This seems like a good moment to listen again and reassess, reminisce or whatever in honour of Trilliam at least.

What's good people, hope everyone's keeping well, staying sane, and ignoring the fuck out of Joy Orbison drill refixes in favour of Nammy Wams and DJ Oblig sets.

Super appreciative of all the kind words, true or imagined. Massive massive shouts to NKC for having the stomach and finesse I lacked to write this sorely needed retrospective. He smashed it out the park.

Here's some sets

Here's some meaty archives. RIP offliberty, the last good soundcloud ripper known to man

Where’s all the good drill house then? Someone posted a short clip of drill producer making garage on tik Tok here last week it was amazing

Drill house. Drill N Bass. I hope you guys are bantering. If not then put aside these "pushing things forward"/intelligent drill music musings at once.

Drill already uses breaks to a degree, purely through happenstance, continuum gon continuum it's in the water.

Congo Natty's kid is a producer in the scene fwiw.

Drill house no, rap house via amapiano yes. Funky pt 2 on the cards.

Kinda instructive that whilst hard drive space is cheaper than ever (one of the few things!) people have gotten worse at archiving. people used to be evangelists about that. There didn't seem to be the same evangelism with deep tech, it seemed more culturally than musically interesting. which isn't invalid but means that stuff has probably slipped through the cracks now.

or maybe not! big ups @trilliam - will def use youtube-dl to save some of these sets.
