that was quite bracing. i've never adopted that position but i should do. i should run every story through that filter really.
I mean, unless there is a cabal/board of superintelligent yogis that are able to orchestrate energy flows through every conceivable human discipline and sphere
this is why you are a religious thinkerI would be led to believe that within the set of all valid opinions on a given topic, having defined valid as above, there must be some attractor that the distribution orbits around, some optimal state that only gets approached, never reached.
@constant escape would conflate the two stancesa paranoid would say i knew what was in the pipeline and im a member of the illuminati. a boring person would say its just coincidence and extrapolation from contemporary trends.
Is it more dangerous than treating every opinion as valid? You'd be enabling elitism anyway as you'd have to validate elitist positions. But personally thats a dangerous thing for me to just believe, which is why I'm tip-toeing around it.
Part of the reason I choose to insist that all opinions are valid. In the interest of preventing an elitism from taking hold, assuming it hasn't already. Aiming for 100% subsumption of all possible opinions/beliefs.
I'm just increasingly wary of taking positions while under some pretense of universality. Is it more dangerous than treating every opinion as valid? You'd be enabling elitism anyway as you'd have to validate elitist positions.
I'm also talking stuff like Trump saying or tweeting something then him and his supporters claiming it's fake news. I don't think it's valid to claim he didn't say it when there's direct evidence he did.
It's exhausting and can extend into every aspect of your life. That's one of the ways you end up with these conspiracy theorists who think everyone's out to get them, imo. They take apart conversations and relationships and whatnot the way they do news stories.that was quite bracing. i've never adopted that position but i should do. i should run every story through that filter really.
