i had a dirty martini with gin the other day and it was much more fun than one with vodka. not sure what gin it was.

Haven’t had a real drink in two decades

If it ever got to the point of wanting one, a barrel of cognac would work

(how has no-one recommended Stan Snakebite and black)

Had to look it up. Lager and cider? Seems like ale and cider would be better, but perhaps that qualifies as well.

But with blackcurrant? Intriguing.

I would recommend to the curious that they procure a bottle of date molasses, a well-proven ingredient. Put some in a G&T last night, worked well.

“Slow as molasses“ + cider and black current is like a ghost of youth, snakebite is plain grotesque (the two ingredients should split like cream they’re that bad a pairing)

I don’t get gin. The rankest drink of them all. Had a few tasters of Pappy V Winkle. Stunning concoction, 2 ice cubes and you’re set

Haven't developed the palate for whiskey of any denomination, farther along for gin.

apparently in Wisconsin they do shots of bitters. will try soon and get back to you.

Might as well, otherwise a bottle of Angostura is virtually bottomless given its ultra-conservative usage.

There's a drink I've seen some afro-caribbean people have round here a bit, which is a can of "nourishment", that sort of meal in a can slim fast type deal, mixed with Guinness. Like half a pint of Guinness then you slowly pour the can of nurishment in. There's a guy I worked with on a film once who did it, cos he didn't have time to eat properly.

Never tried it, I'm not a fan of those meals in a drink. Weird concept. When I was as uni all my mates used to have this thing called "build up" before a night out, rather than eat actual dinner. It was the same thing except cheaper cos it was powdered. I never got into that. Even more awful cos they got all lumpy.

an ad keeps popping up on my youtube for 'huel' ( rhymes with gruel ) - it looks disgusting, like a bunch of oats that you mix with water and that's your meal - designed for people too busy to eat

You could save five hours a week just by replacing your Monday-to-Friday lunches with Huel. No more meal prep. And no more sandwiches and crisps for lunch. Just keep Huel on your desk or in your car. Prep a Huel meal in minutes at lunch time. And get back to what you were doing.

I'm guessing 'huel' will be the gateway drug to those vitamin bars where you get injections instead of eating something

yeah that would be the modern spin... like in the deliveroo thread. food as something you have to get out of the way as quickly as possible. and the small print or inference being: meal times now, for a lot of people = alone times.

Half a Guinness is the standard Caribbean drink round here, usually foreign-extra

Huel, like fuel. Mmmmm, granola gruel in hot water. The ad itself is comical, the actor clearly isn’t into it either

Stepping away from alcohol, you really don’t miss it after a while
