What is turntup?
  1. It's a collaborative short run (ie 50 copies max) print 'zine' which collects together bits of drawing/writing/other stuff from friends and acquaintances.
  2. The guiding mantra is 'the turn up is real'.
  3. Anything everyday, pedestrian, deep, weird, odd, whatever. As long as there's an element of getting 'turnt'.
  4. There is no fee for contributing work, but I can help people if they are stuck and need a bit of cash (like up to £20) for expenses.
  5. I pay for all the print and associated costs (assembly, binding, postage) of the production of the zine.
  6. Contributors get a free copy of the finished zine.
  7. Additional copies are sold at zine fairs and online.
  8. Details from a few pages from the previous issue so you get an idea of the variety:

This year's turntup will most likely be in a different size to previous years ie will be A6 size pages or A2 size pages - I've not made a final decision yet as to which size.

The submission guidance is as follows:

Writing or drawing, or a combination of both, comics, emails, graffiti, gig reviews, interviews, journalism, poetry, found illustration/writing are all acceptable.

Original handwriting or drawing preferred to photography (i know this isn't always possible eg if you have made some sculpture, it can only really be photos of it).

It's important to me that the work has not already been online or published elsewhere - original work only if possible. Again, i know this is not always possible so there is flexibility around it.

Cheers! Let me know if any queries.

Also, if you know someone who might be interested, let me know

OK I've found a printer who will do broadsheet size, the colours are gonna be a bit faded but I'm going for the salmon pink paper to make up for it.

Have gone back and forth a bit, was gonna go for a riso print but the biggest size anyone can do is a3 and I want proper A1 broadsheet.

So, anyone interested, please send me your work ASAP.

I've had a few conversations with people, trying to twist various arms, and others have asked about it.

So just pm me if interested and I'll explain what to do next.

300 dpi recommended. i think if you are scanning, try to use highest settings possible. or if you take a photo, same thing, send the biggest file. hopefully that will be OK. I don't wanna get too wrapped up in resolution issues with this though... I'm going to get a single issue done before i send the whole run, so if there's something really problematic, i'll let people know

It's like a different deep south isn't it. The deep north. Before you get to the wilds of Canada. Another frontierland
