i never listen to hendrix. theres never a moment in my life where that seems like an appealing prospect but one of my most intense
listening experiences was listening to voodoo chile not slight return the really long one on one of my first ever mushroom trips
one of those times when you find something real and true in a song but you will never access it again also one of those times
when the intensity of the thing is so much that your laughing becasue of the way they draw it out and have you on a string

Jimi Hendrix, 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)'

The greatest guitar track ever recorded. As an intense and almost incomprehensible and insane tour de force it reminds me of the ‘Terminator 2 Remix’.

The fact that this was done in one take the morning after they recorded the turgid, endless ‘Voodoo Chile’ (with Stevie Winwood spunking his organ all over the shop) is amazing, really.

Not a lot of guitars on this list, but this tips the balance in one go.

Definitely listened to Hendrix a few times on teenage mushroom trips.

Craner's probably right about the 2 voodoo childs though

Listening to hendrix on your first mushroom trips is (was) practically obligatory, like listening to Bob Marley when you first start smoking weed.

I went in a local country pub on mine when I was 16 to have a pint and the dartboard and carpets started spinning, and I had to leave because I burst into hysterical laughter and everyone was staring at me

On another occasion round that time I was round my mates house who sat cupping a tomato in his hand and staring at it like it was a sacred object for about 2 hours. We may well have been listening to jimi hendrix at the time - lets just say we were

I remember finding this mesh cloth on a dresser when I was on acid at a mate's and noticing if I moved the top layer and not the bottom then it looked like water in a video game. We all stood around taking turns at it.
