So... it looks as though they are going to try and expand the Supreme Court, anyone know what kind of numbers they will need to do that? Any chance it goes through?

Guess ? Pretty tough w current 50 /50 split in effect.
They should try though ...
The Repugs make each issue attractive to bring to the floor as their arguments - rarely really an argument though - usually a sentence they got from Donnie - often seem projections.
To be probed, popped, rolled.

Apparently there are nine at present cos there used to be nine appellate courts, now there are thirteen courts so I get the argument for expanding it. Not sure they have the numbers to make it happen though.

some house and senate dems are introducing a bill to expand it to 13, which obviously won't get any GOP support. biden is on record saying he's "not a fan" of expanding the court but last week announced creation of a bipartisan commission to study reforms to the Supreme Court and produce a report. my gut says that committee will never really make much headway, the report will be issued a year from now and the idea with languish.

I thought that they were looking at making it a state and giving it two (probably Dem) senators, another way to grab more power/represent people more fairly (delete as appropriate depending on your leanings).

Chances are those 2 threads - expanding the Supremos and dealing Wash DC in as a state may possibly collude, run parallel.

At the moment they have no representation right? There is a strong argument for giving them some I'd have thought.
After the swell of attention during the DC demo's , Capitol riot, fences and low flying heli's over demonstrators, DC just may have their moment.
There is momentum

ah, yeah, you mean change Washington DC from a district to a state. and yeah, that would almost guarantee two additional Dem senators. not sure what's involved with that or how quickly it could happen.

Hasn't Biden just this minute expelled a load of Russian diplomats on the basis that it wasn't a hoax? Could be a bit awkward if it turns out to be the first thing Trump was actually telling the truth about.

" There were reasons to doubt the story from the start. Not only did the initial stories emphasize its basis on detainee reporting, but the bounties represented a qualitative shift in recent Russian engagements with Afghan insurgents. Russian operatives have long been suspected of moving money to various Afghan militants: an out-of-favor former Taliban official told The Daily Beast on the record that Russia gave them cash for years. But the Russians had not been suspected of sponsoring attacks on U.S. forces outright – an escalation that risked confrontation with the U.S., and occurring long after it could have made a difference in the war."

How easy and cheap to plant a rumor .
It's a no-brainer. Start the rumour, it gets about, Dems and anti-Trump Reps go nuts over it. Then it turns out to be untrue, Trump for once looks truthful and everyone else looks like a cunt.
