I always see this thread title and read it as The Life of Biden... which is appropriate enough cos the main thrust of what people saying is "He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy".

This is one of the more unfortunate positions taken by establishment-friendly ostensible social progressives. Like the image suffices despite lack of substance, or whatever.
Yes—And in my mind the indicators thing is connected to this image/substance thing. Let's say that there really is nothing problematic about a gig, or a decision, or a collaboration—but the optics are bad. If you're saying, well, people aren't gonna be arsed to figure out the real situation, they'll just jump to conclusions based on the immediate surface optics, then what kind of selection mechanism is that? What kind of incentive structure are you building for would-be politicians? How are they gonna navigate decisions? How have they been trained?

Theoretically that might be bad, if it happened but They've actually been trained to go to elite institutions and work in elite positions for elite companies-no one is getting disqualified from politics on the basis of consulting for Palantir in, like, reality.

And arguably it can get kicked into hyperdrive when people operate in bad faith according to what they think the substance is.

I was on the phone to my dad earlier and he thinks there's a good chance Biden's assassinated. It got me wondering whether Kamala might end up an LBJ figure in the sense of people thinking he was in on the JFK assassination if it were to happen. She could engineer it with whomever else then pin it on Trump and his supporters. She'd then have all three branches of government and carte blanche to do more or less whatever she wanted security-wise due to the seriousness of the event.

Maybe Biden himself is in on it. The ultimate sacrifice. A blood sacrifice to "save the republic".

broke up in 1999, reuniting for one day to play this (which became a campaign theme song played at rallies) at the inauguration. a different kind of making America great again.

I'm sure Fox News will love the liberal/socialist anarchy of the video.

also fits the supermarket/mall thread.

I can totally see how a team of political consultants researched songs and thought these lyrics were a good fit: inspirational, positive, with the motivational element. "you only get what you give", we're all on the same team, let's all pitch in and overcome our collective problems and differences, etc.

Imagine something more ‘normal’ - heart attack, stress, cancer, any of those fun times. Harris gets in, cue uproar.

75million votes for Trump. How do you reconcile anything? Do the S African process? Imagine the alt-right’s take on that. Grim, but not hopeless.

Yeah that's what I meant; you wanted a free and radical president, well here's the next best thing.

one could imagine it's a subtle trolling of GOP/Fox/MAGA. the lyrics and overall spirit of the song are what makes it appropriate, but the band name is the added little one-finger salute to Sean Hannity et al.
