(Art as) Communication vs. Expression

Can't remember the title of the one I read, it started with her going to see her mate in another state and they go out drinking. I never finished it but there was a video I found of her doing a reading that was good.

She's got a really handsome look though, I have to hand it to her, something so healthy and timeless, the mix of masculine and feminine

She's probably cool, it just seemed like she was limited. Like there was a certain post-beat, St Marks scene that should've been a stopover, but she was never able to transcend it, she can only write stories and memoirs about being young in that time & place.

My friend dogsat for her for a couple weeks, said it was one of the worst experiences of his life. The place was a dingy basement that hadn't been cleaned in years, and the dog tore everything apart, completely out of control pitbull, an absolute nightmare to walk or take out in public. This is interesting.

The thing I remember about her was she got to NYC and used to just turn up at readings, I can't remember who her hero was, maybe Patti Smith, but she just followed her around til they got sick of it and became a mentor.

That kind of dogged will to self actualisation that is the cornerstone of American philosophy, regardless of whether its 'transgressive'.

In America, it doesn't matter if what you're doing is beyond the pale, you can still make it if you persist with it, is the mantra.

I sort of always intended to go back to her but never happened.

After 'I love dick', I had a lot of enthusiasm for all the mentions of different people in it, followed a load up, but soon switched tack to something else, cos a lot of it did feel like 'I love dick', but was not as good, or was exploring similar territory but in a less interesting way.

Does the traditional schema of relatively long build up to climax, with relatively short decline afterward, have anything to do with the average life expectancies of those who were more foundational to such teachings? Whereas our equivalent would be a relatively short and abrupt incline, followed by a relatively longer tailing decline.

Not sure if this is an obvious connection that has already been mulled over, and the implications it has on how we process things temporally.

I mean speciation can happen when one variation happens to win out over others. In hindsight it may seem like one progenitor/forerunner "had" something that made them more impactful across generations, but perhaps it was singled out and spared extinction by virtue of some accidental quality, some spandrel.

Thats my disclaimer about privileging a certain discourse - perhaps it survived and proliferated for reasons that were not intrinsic to its own modus operandi. Winner by default, and so on.

Also gets at the central knot of intelligent design, autopoiesis, stochastic evolution, etc. Things can subsist "accidentally", so long as what has been working continues to work - and often you don't until it doesn't, at which point it may be too late.

Neurogenesis and psychogenesis could be considered as means of hastening and organizing certain physical signals. How could a neurogenesis be conceived, in physical terms? Well such a transition could, perhaps, be considered the initiation of dematerialized negentropy, the initiation of processes of organization that are abstractable from the physical systems they were established to operate upon. The attainment of a higher order perspective, etc.

Physically, perhaps much if not all of this activity is reducible to a stochastically learning active network of neurons or some kind of neuron progenitors.

I'm interested but I have no idea what you're talking about. Get object-level for me, gimme some concrete nouns. Schema of what? What teachings?

Like in film, act one being the first quarter of the structure, act two being the second and third quarters, and act three being the fourth quarter, and how the climax tends to happen in the third act. So most of the structure is build up to some apogee/crest, and the decline from which high point is short compared to the build up.

I was just wondering if this had anything do with wih shorter lifespans, experiencing the vitality of youth and not living much beyond beyond it.
