Some people think that recent New Yorker thing on the "Dirtbag Left" was the Democratic establishment essentially saying "You've had your fun. Bernie's gone. You can fuck off now."

Someone said "where are the e-girls"? And then the reply was

the thread is literally all about e-girls

As if the question was intended as "On which page from this thread on this forum are they discussed?" - but isn't it at least possible that the question was supposed to be about how to find/meet/sex egirls in that big scary place outside dissensus? Obviously though the thought that he could be talking about actual real people never crossed anyone's mind... mine included, it's just that I happened to read it back through today and then I thought, or there could be another archaic usage here - barely understood except by the very oldest - but which gives a someone different meaning to the question "where are the girls?"

Wektor, if you'd like to meet e-girls, they used to all be at Lucien/Clandestino/Metrograph but that was very 2018, I couldn't tell you these days tbh

maybe Mood Ring, in Brooklyn, is still hip? They served astrology themed cocktails. Or Flowers For All Occasions? Not sure if Boys Don't Cry was ever hip, but it looked like it was trying to be hip. Nowadays and Elsewhere were hip clubs at some point. Again, I'm out of touch, haven't stepped foot in the city at least 6 months

I'm told that if you track down Paul (From Bible), say "Honor Levy must die" 12 times while crossing your heart, then peer into the nearest gender-neutral bathroom, an e-girl will appear, and she will also be an "art hoe." (Self-described! No bigotry here!)

If “Know Your Enemy” were like most podcasts, then an episode of this kind—pegged to the news, available only to subscribers—might have consisted of an hour or two of aimless riffing, a few apocryphal anecdotes, and some easy punch lines about how the mighty have fallen. Content production is a high-volume business, and professional talkers, especially political ones, almost always offer up old whines in new bottles.
This is deadly accurate tho

So this is the point in a mafia film where, after a cordial meeting of the heads of the five families breaks up, the boos of the Luciano clan (here representing the Dem establishment) will say to his consigliere "Dirtbag has been very useful to us but lately they have become something of a liability, I fear that they have outlived their usefulness" and his number two will say "Certainly sir, I will contact Luca Brasi right now."
Then the camera cuts to Dirtbag and their associates saying "This leadership arrangement has been profitable for decades and it has been beneficial to us in the past, but now if we are to truly defeat the Trump Crime Family (which represents The Trump Crime Family) then it will be necessary to remove some of the dead wood at the top of this tree".
In short it's not always that easy to simply disassemble the monster that you joined forces with (or possibly even built) when it suited you, there might well be some kind of power struggle type thing and pervs seeping with fishes.

My friend unawarely ordered a "Pacifico on the rocks" at elsewhere, and the bartender asked him if he was sure and he told her yeah, doubling down, realizing his error but making seem like it wasn't an error, and she was like "no one's ever ordered a pacifico on the rocks." He didn't lose his composure and I respected him for it.

Um.... I'm gonna be honest here Leo, you are looking for more in that analogy than is there I'm afraid. I put that line entirely because in gangster films there is very often a leader who says that a particular subordinate has outlived his usefulness and it's time for him to die - at the same instant as that very subordinate is in turn plotting to destroy the leader and take their place.
The inspiration for it came when I extrapolated from the idea that @version mentioned of the Democratic establishment essentially saying [to the DBL] "You've had your fun. Bernie's gone. You can fuck off" which I suppose, if true, would indeed mean that from the POV of the Dem Establishment, the perceived value of the DBL's existence had moved from one that is tolerable to one that isn't - and I naughtily allowed myself to understand it as a change from a positive value to a negative one, when, strictly speaking, of course it could (and in real life probably does) refer to a change from bad to terrible.
And to be honest, even if it is true that the top Dems have decided that the DBL have "gotta go" as Paulie walnuts might have put it, the other half of the analogy doesn't really hold up cos I doubt that Amber A'Lee Frost is planning to have Jaime Harrison sleep with the fishes so that she can seize the chair of the DNC.
Bad analogy - slap on the wrist for me.

Explain this to me, what is a PotR and what was his error?

Ah, I see, I thought it was going to be some kind of signifier meaning that he drank in a certain bar or an in-joke from a programme or... I dunno, something. But it just revealed that he didn't know the basics of drinking in a bar... a social faux pas effectively?

Yeah a faux pas, didn't think to call it that.
