Listening to the Nines album. It's quite good but it's weird cos he's got quite an amateurish voice. The professionalism of the production really clashes with it. I guess that weird amateurish flow adds a feeling of authenticity. Like he's cool enough not to give a fuck about developing his chops.
There's just a vibe to the Nines album that no-one else has really got this year. I see what you mean in a way but I view it a bit different. Doesn't care. Very casual.
Too many people are trying so hard to rap, it's not appealing tbh
Listened to rick rubin interviewing pharrell the other day and they're talking about 'beautiful' - pharrell says he was singing offkey in the chorus and rick rubin says that when someone sings offkey it sounds more hip-hop to him. pharrell says it adds this personality and charm to it.
