Small amounts are interesting too. As shiels says they are a productivity and performance enchancer. But also will ultimately just whet your appetite for the real deal.

small amounts can be great for eg, cracking a text that seem impenetrable. Or making your afternoon walk a bit more engrossing. Speaking of which, look at that sky out there, it's not good is it.

But I also think acid and mushrooms are brilliant and should be done at least once a year every year till death

You can live without drugs but it's very bad for mental health in the long run. You go a bit loopy without them.

I'd be interested in learning more about how neural frequencies express themselves psychologically. Still not even sure what terms to use when describing these frequencies, but willfully regulating them, to some extent, seems promising. Something about how meditation, long term, bolsters gamma waves. Think the other four are alpha, beta, delta and theta, but I don't know what rationale went into naming them as such.

@Matthew anything to do with this?

there's a lot to be said for that. it might be a much better way of regulating those states than relying on the body.

Most people try it once or twice and go it was very interesting but it's too scary thank you very much. David Luke met a monster covered in thousands of eyes that told him he's not allowed in there. Barred the way. Not for you.

there's lots on the DMN (default mode network) and psychedelics and meditation. biofeedback is a very interesting area too. there's a new book "the culture of feedback" by daniel belgrad too.

i'm not so taken by all the brainwave stuff. i reckon it's all about the chemicals in the brain. specifically dopamine. and they STILL haven't found a way of adequately measuring it... so it's like a total mystery
