Book Club #1: RETREAT

It's only right we start with this one

@Corpsey's idea which means he's definitely in, as is @catalog. @luka has already read it, and also went to the launch to mingle with the stars. Heart eyes emoji if you'd like to join

I think 100 pages a week is doable and fast enough to keep things lively. We start next weekend, so you have time to order. Discussion starts following week

Good stuff, I just ordered it direct from repeater, seems a pretty good deal from them as opposed to amazon right now

Picked up from Repeater but will take a while to arrive stateside and probably can't do it at once with the Borges

I do but I can't read online and the collection is pricey in print.
I have a heap of other comics that I'm meaning to get into, including Morrison's Filth, which I coughed up dough for already. Also that Batman ones that are supposed to be so rich in symbolism.

I know what you mean, digi files can be a pain if you are already doing a lot of screen time.

I was gonna drop 30 quid on the new ulli lust today but talked myself out of it. And the Adrian tomine memoir looks good.

Buying too many books! I've banned myself til January.

Yeah it's cutting down on screentime. Not so much anything inherent to print or digital, but I am way higher-distraction on a computer, so the experiences feel pretty different.

I did just pick up another volume of Vaughn's Last Man at a used shop which I'm looking forward to

I don't blame either of you but it's the sort of thing I probably would've appreciated more in my 20s than I am doing now. You could try reading the first two issues maybe, but yeah, fair do's, I get it. I also would not have shelled out on print for it.

OK, so my copy has arrived. it's a beast innit - nearly 500 pages.

so just to recap, we are looking to have read the first 100 pages or so by about the 19th?

looks like that would be first 5 chapters (chapter 5 starts p78 and finishes p125).

i've still got the Spare bio on the go, and the Invisibles, but should be able to fit this in as well. And I've still not read of those Borges stories.
