Two films Ive watched a lot, maybe six, seven times each. They were both on telly on Sunday. Both hold up pretty well, Brando is ridiculous of course, but his lips are fascinating.

Clothes and colours of course much better in the Harder they come. Performances generally a bit better too although I think Pacino is actually good. I like the change in his eyes when he goes dark lord

I like those hideous grotesque fat Italians too. Iconicly fat and unhealthy diseased looking. Ruined by America.

Harder they come is actually on now funnily enough. The channel is called London live. Check it out.

It was on 2 nights in a row for some reason.
Have you ever watched the MMA they show on London Live? Backroom of a pub vibes. 8ft tall 7stone traveller vs gorilla shaped 52yr old. Presented by celebrity east end gangster Dave Courtney.

I mean Harder They Come for me. Iconic.

The novel it’s based on is great too.

Godfather is amazing but suffers from being the kind of film that film bores like.

Different beasts. Godfather is epic, trans-generational, big director, a massive statement about American cinema as art which is maybe what's getting up Jon's nose. Harder They Come - "third world" cinema, one of the few films shot in Jamaica (well, telling a Jamaican story, I'm sure it's background glamour in loads of Hollywood chuff), much rougher round the edges but more genuine, is centred on music, and quite meta- in it's reference to cinematic violence (in a way that The Godfather indulges and fetishizes).

I find it hard to say. It would be HTC but the storytelling in The Godfather is just so good. Evenly matched.

There's a great line in The Sopranos where Tony's daughter says something like "you know he was killed by an overweight guy in see through socks" or somethng like that. You can imagine the wheezing, sweaty killer when she says it.

Harder They Come = the Jimmy Cliff film? I'm sure you mean that, but don't know if there's some mafia film of the same name.
If so, I'd probably vote for that, though I've never see The Godfather.
