My Mum is watching Braveheart because it reminds her of my Dad pissed up mimicking the film’s charade, then video calling with key sequences. The English remain as deeply mistrusted influences as ever.
Has she disowned you for becoming a naturalised Englishman ?

Let's Talk About Ceps
Having a massive Bailey's, BBC Radio 3, carols from King's College chapel.

I got to outwit a health Nazi down the shops today. He was rendered speechless when I entered the store. Turns out there was a queue, which I blithely did not notice. "But you just walked into the shop, sir!" He sputtered eventually, to which I replied, a la Roger Moore, "as is traditional". He couldn't even.
Let me guess - did everyone clap?

I hate Xmas though, I decided ten years ago I wasn't doing it any more and it's been great. I don't buy presents, I don't receive any, I don't cook or visit anyone or have anyone visit me. I run a bath and listen to dub techno and eat greasy food and turkey twizzlers and do nothing all day and it's so much better than pretending to be interested in other people after weeks of being stressed and busy at work and running around shops trying to guess what people want.

in fact as an adult it's so odd to me that it's seen as strange that I have zero interest in it, because as soon as I stepped out of the celebrations to do my own thing, I realised just exhausting and draining and dismal the whole routine really is
