Yeah, but Woops was talking about death tolls. That doesn't account for how graphic the deaths are, just how many occur. And yeah, Hostel is horrible. I doubt I'd ever watch it again and I don't intend to watch the second.
It was Die Hard at one time wasn't it? Obviously Hot Shots Part Deux over took it....

That was extraordinary.much better than I expected it to be. The Reagan Rock song as the film ends goes 'I will protect you. Nothing can hurt you' father as protector. good conservative themes.

When a computer whiz-kid taps into the government early-warning system, it invites him to play ‘Global Thermonuclear Warfare’. Little does he realise that this is not a variation on Space Invaders, and his gleeful decision to nuke Las Vegas precipitates a full-scale countdown to Armageddon

Computers really become a big theme.

Weird Science obviously as the preminent example
But also Skynet in Terminator
Wargames
The Last Starfighter
Tron

Today I watched Ferris Beullers Day Off which like wargames Stars Matthew brocerick. In both films he hacks into the school computer and changes data relating to himself. Cool!

Ferris Beullers day off is made by a republican and is a republican movie.

In all the films I've watched as part of my eighties season everyone drinks Pepsi and everyone wears Nikes.

I liked the film a lot. Good film. He's got a caberet Voltaire poster in his bedroom.

I can't imagine an English film being made about a loveable tyke that made him and his friends impossibly mega rich living in a mansion. I don't think we would find it acceptable.

Is the 80s the only decade in which Pepsi was more high-profile than Coca-Cola?

I mean advertising it, as opposed to putting it up his bum, although I suppose you never know.

That film was also one of those that drew my attention to how weird and random American names are when someone first asked me something that might as well have been "Have you seen blump blur bling Day Off?" and then I'd reply "what?" and they would repeat it millions of times before I understood that it was a name.

All films in the eighties are children's films and all films in the eighties are advertisements.

Morning in America. Second Childhood.
