i had a weird couple of days/nights over the weekend staying up til well past dawn and sleeping til 4. but i've hard-reprogrammed myself i think by only sleeping 4 hours on saturday night and having that weird knackered feeling all day yesterday.

My body clock gone a bit wrong... I rise 1230, or try, often slides to 1300 or 1400 though, I battle to not be later, three or four is unacceptable. Consequece is, although I try to start thinking of sleep from about 5am I often can't get into bed until seven or eight "oooh Law and Order series 73, episode 9 million is on? I cannot miss that!" - I'm not that happy with my hours BUT i am sleeping when I do go to bed which for me is not to be sneezed at.

A load of us are gonna see DJ Assault tomorrow, it could potentially be an opportunity to "reset" by not sleeping at all on Tues and then choosing an ideal time - say 1am Thurs - and hoping I can crash then, sleep for eight hours and wake with a new 9am to 1am lifestyle loaded.

I took sleeping pills for the last few nights and was like "yay I've cracked it" had a really full on efficient day yesterday. None last night and my sleep is a totally fucking bin fire. It's now six and I've managed about 40m. Fuck this shit I'm so fed up of it.

when i fell into that skunk hole recently time just shattered completely. i'd wake up and fall asleep any old time, three sleeps in a day distributed randomly. wake up 3am go back to sleep 10am.

The only thing that (more or less) consistently works for me is going to bed at 9pm (to get up at 8am) so that I have an 11 hour window to get 8 hours in. Takes the pressure off. It is obviously not ideal to have to go to bed that early, though. The key is not to go to bed so late that I need to fall asleep almost instantly and not wake up in the night in order to get 7-8 hours.

No visible clocks. Ear plugs. Sleeping mask.

No wanking, also very important.

Obviously it's fixating on sleep that's got me into this hypersensitive situation. When I was a kid/teenager I didn't have any problems.

Also doing exercise in the day helps a lot - if I've done 10,000+ steps e.g. I will definitely sleep better.

A trick I've been using lately is one that a lot of people use which is drinking a beer an hour or two before bed. But I'd prefer not to get into a situation where I need booze or sleeping pills to sleep.

a routine i really like but which is quite difficult to maintain is to go to bed at 10 and get up at 6am leaving less evening for getting drunk and plenty of morning time for writing or whatever. i'm working on getting into that at the moment.

weirdly though after going to bed at 11pm last night and apparently so tired my eyesight was going funny and i couldn't read properly, i woke up wide awake at 12.40am nevertheless and read for another hour or so before eventually sleeping much better. weird

maybe this is just something going round at the moment

sometimes i think you do need to make a drastic intervention to change the vibrational frequency yours sounds like its gone emergency mode full time from fatherhood

Yeah my internal barometer has totally gone. I'll have to go back on the pills tonight. I thought a few days eascrnough for a reset but I'll shoot for a week this time.

It's lockdown. Slept okay for the first 3 years.

I took the day off work today though so it's not all bad.

Just doing away with routine, kip whenever you want sort of thing. Kids absolutely do not help, you're right there. But lockdowns the core I think.
