I'm not convinced its impossible to reclaim certain critical traditional values without sacrificing some of the more egalitarian values enabled by the subsidence of such traditions.

That is to say, I believe its possible. Just can't be done in bad faith. By returning to certain traditional values, which untradiitonal values are you sacrificing? And who stands to suffer from such sacrifices?
Right, cultures to some extent work in packages, you can mix-and-match modules but that's trial by fire, and the parts may not play nice.

I'm not interested in white nationalism or politics or racists. Boring! I wanna talk traditional values, lost ways of being, the belief that we've lost our touch on design, architecture. Nostalgia more generally. Conservatism in the sense of a nature preserve.

One thing you get a lot from these folks is side-by-side images of modern/postmodern buildings, and then like 16th C Florence

Or they'll say things like "Renaissance Florence had 45,000 people and they still produced more great artists than the entire 20th C"

you can see this in the various militant twitter posts and also in that soldier's manifesto someone posted that he wrote before going on a killing spree. people who are unhinged latching on to bizarre notions of honour and duty nicked from shit films and cheesy computer games

There’s a pathology of concretisation too, the breakthrough is the last brick in a wall self-sealing sanity off by ideological conviction

Go on then, talk about it. But that psuedo nostalgia is driven by racism
You can't possibly believe this, that the only reason you could feel nostalgic for yesteryear is a belief in racial superiority. I don't get why you show up in my threads and say things you don't believe! It's so weird!

You can't see any possible racist angle in someone aligning themselves with a statement like this?

It's fine if you don't want to talk about the racism angle and find it boring but let's not pretend it doesn't exist

Ok. We acknowledge it exists. Fine. Now we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. Steer the discussion.

Gus you got to keep in mind youre a niche internet weirdo and were all healthy and normal. Like luka Ive only ever seen this specific brand of nostalgia- the decline of the west and etc.- addressed in an overtly racist fashion. Not that you cant talk about these things without being racist I just dont know who 'these folks' are when you allude to them.

I'll let Edward Abbey do the talking. Dissensus: Do we agree?? Is trad twitter politically aligned with DEGROWTH? Will a third, anti-growth party ever emerge in a major liberal nation?

Ok that is fair, I have many farm friends and off-grid type friends who identify as trad and who are not remotely racist, they just like milking their own cows and getting eggs from the pen.

We could talk about the Yass Kween school of the 24/7 female neoliberal empowerment firehose, OR we could talk about farm-fresh vs certified humane eggs its your guys's choice honestly
