@suspended doxxed a tyrannical lowest common denominator tyrant who only ever wants tunes to sing to, lamentable! no conception of music as a sonic universe unto itself.

There's a sort of cynicism towards Mozart in modern culture. Perhaps not in popular culture, where Mozart for Babies and Lacrimosa are the soundtracks to many a suburban home; but amongst supposed music lovers, it can be too easy to find someone who decries Mozart as "cheesy," "sappy," or otherwise lacking edge. These people will typically hold up Beethoven and/or Bach as supposed replacements for Mozart. If only they realized the problems in both...

Beethoven is often picked because his works appeal straight to a person's jugular - or heart, depending on your view. But while there is that rhythmic and dynamic energy in his music, it lacks in the elegant. Beethoven throughout his compositions never really made a good tune: nothing that would really pair up with his predecessors or even some of his successors in terms of sing-ability (indeed, I find myself more often singing Stravinsky's Pulcinella than I do Beethoven's symphonies). He also was plagued with the urge to over-develop, resulting in many an overlong work such as in his middle "Heroic" period. So Beethoven is a beautiful, yet flawed choice.

what's the haha react here? Just ask @sufi @Matthew I'm being deadly serious. Beethoven was more junglistic than mozart, who was the equivalent of leftfield and underworld prog house of his day.

Sometimes we hear a call from nature. When I was 18 years old I ventured out alone with only a backpack full of simple hand tools to actualize my dream. Build my own traditional off grid log cabin by hand from the materials of the Swedish wilderness. Just like our Forefathers did.

Present enemies:
- Aversion to suffering
- Coveting other men's wives
- Coveting other men's pocketbooks
- Questioning God's purpose for me on this Earth
- Despair

Trying to keep the trad mottoes in mind to get me through this period... "Social comparison is the root of all unhappiness"

One thing I've been thinking more about is taking seriously the dangers of pot and TV separate from facile arguments traditionally made about brain rot and violence etc

Just because terrible terrible idiotic easy to knock over claims have been made about the dangers of these things, doesn't mean they are danger-free

Smart folk reject these arguments rightfully, but lack of positive proof is not proof of lack. etx

For instance, once we see that mimesis and social learning rules everything around us, constructs social norms, that high-status people become models for emulation, we can start imagining what television and film does to us

Nothing in life is risk free, not a life worth living anyway but cannabis and tv do not equate

TV, for example, isn’t an anti inflammatory. As a medium it’s borderline redundant to most of us but you do live in America so there’s a bias you might not see

We watch screens but not necessarily via conventional channel x,y,z. If you watch kids (so fuckin lol) interact with screens in a constructive way, through self-chosen interests that aren’t restrictive, it can be quite humbling watching their focus grow

TV? What, atypical channels, streaming, repeats of Columbo on itv4 at 2pm?
