A thread I think dissensus has been crying out for. Thought it would be good to start with a roundup of some of the big names at the moment and their best stuff over the last year or so

I'll start with Intence, who's obviously he's been discussed a fair bit here before. He's my favourite out of the new wave of mcs

His biggest hit. Yeng

Breakthrough hit on the excellent lifestyle riddim. Go hard

Barty flute riddim selection. Nuh regular bwoy

Another barty flute riddim

On the brilliant simple ting riddim

More flutes. A tune so good it had its own dissensus thread

Youtube, yes, to start with, then later spotify is really good for nosing around - the 'appears on' section takes you to all the riddim albums artists have appeared on, which is useful. Also skipping through the obligatory top 100 dancehall biggest hits playlists that appear on spotify. But you have to put the work in to seperate the wheat from the chaff, wouldn't really call it lucky dip.

Well we still have the sad broken afrobeats/dancehall thread for the happy stuff, we could keep this thread gangsta

It's different in the eighties maybe, but by the time you get to the nineties I'm definitely a big fan of guns. The exception being the religious fervour of Sizzla and Capleton in 1997.

One thing I've noticed is the trinibad videos nearly all have ridiculous amounts of guns in them, like much more even than the Jamaican vids. You can't move for them.

Tbh i've kind of moved on to just listening on spotify rather than watching the videos, it does get a bit much for me at times.
