but it could just as easily be drastially declining T rates due to estrogen in chicken and soy products or something. take your pick.

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
I liked the neon screams argument about it not being cool, not only to be a rasta, but to be a standard human of any sort anymore.

Hence the skin bleaching and weird tattoos and piercings etc.

A deep masculine voice can sound comical or bestial, but it doesn't sound alien/futuristic/above it all.

Dunno if Lil Wayne was the one who went there first with this I am an alien thing.

That tune is obviously getting a bit of backlash - and yeah fair enough, it's a good example of Skilli's laziness we've talked about before - but I take Dancehall Mag's stance on it with a slight pinch of salt tbh. There are still a bunch of people defending it in the comments, and generally DM's stance is quite conservative, or has grown to be, and they love a Skillibeng pile on even when it doesn't make sense e.g. the announcement of the Nicki Minaj Crocodile Teeth remix. Just look at their gushing over Jahshii performing with a live band the other day. At the same time, it's been a bit of a slow start to the year for dancehall imo - maybe that's partly a product of the rush of releases that seemed to come at the end of last year (not everyone is as productive as Squash and Chronic Law), but I'm also hoping it's not some sort of result of a growing backlash/tiredness with trap dancehall, with DM's stance being an indication of that. Just think how many slow mawkish piano tunes we've had to put up with in 2022 so far.

I like it, but I'm new to the dancehall thing. The bits that it gets slagged off for are the bits I like : wap wap wap wap wap wap wap wap, shell shell shell shell shell shell shell. It's often like that I think, the things that people like and don't like about a tune are the same thing, the thing which is distinctive.

Whatever the situation is, the past couple weeks have been stronger. Few recent tunes (don't think these have been posted):

Couple older bits I didn't get round to sharing at the time:

This last one tapping into that "gaseous" vibe Benny mentioned way back in the thread.

in nairobi a guy came to fix the internet in my room and i had some dancehall on, he recognized it from the first bar and said 'ah you like dancehall?' and then told me that it's massive in Kenya, which I didn't expect

I don't dislike it in the way other people seem to, and yeah I do get the distinctive thing you mention (there is something kind of amusing about it, and not necessarily in a negative way - Skillibeng shared a video on Insta where someone had superimposed the wap bit onto COD or some other shooter that was quite funny), but to me the main thing is it's not anywhere near as good as his best stuff.

I think there's been a fair few great tunes this year, I'll post some more later

Anyone here familiar with Clip C, formerly Young Chase apparently, from Brixton? I wasn't, but he's got a new tune with 6ixx collective member Daddy 1 and it's great, in the same vein as that great Squash tune Cyaa Bruk Back from a while back.

Right, I'll post a few tunes I've been enjoying this year that haven't been posted yet (some might be late last year)

New guy, Sinna Meech, from the 6ix collective, a Squash clone perhaps but I love these two.

Gold gad counter strike

More 6ix, Grim YG on the same riddim as Squash's Cyaa bruk back

New Skeng, something of a return to form after a run of average tunes

Another new skillibeng that's not out properly yet
