Stale Buzzwords

So I'll list them, and you can taste these stale buzzwords on your
tongue here and wonder, "hey yeah, where did their sense-of-wonder
go?" Well, MMXXI can be understood as a year in which those
concepts have lost their charmedl life; for that's indeed how we
used to live, but that's not life as it is in the Year of the Ox.
History is not just about new things but also the absences of old
things.

Thinking about a list of terms that tell you the speaker is almost
certainly bullshitting."

I suppose that it's inevitable that any word (in fact any thing) that is hot is gonna become cold. That's what it means to be flavour of the month sadly... make hay while the sun shines cos it won't forever, time like an ever rolling stream bears all its sons away and so on and so forth.
But it's a sign you've been around a little while yourself when you notice words appear and be cool, then normal, then lose their flavour like the proverbial overchewed gum. Was a weird feeling the first time I saw a footballer whose first game I'm seen retire after a long career...

yeah on most of these, except AI and 5G. those aren't buzzwords, they are actual things.

it's easy to imagine those terms being superceded though. "5g" only makes sense retrospectively, in terms of the previous "G"s so the marketeers will need some new paradigm like "wi2fi" "extraG+x" or some shit (like pentium or XP).

and "AI" is an even weaker concept given it's overlap with lots of the others up on the list (it's not my list) - a way for us to describe our latest computer stuff bascially so sure to be upgraded, maybe with some reference to "soul" rather than intelligence, at this rate

Whatever happened to the "internet of things"? Was all rage at one point.

My dad went through a phase a few years ago of saying "the internet of things" to mean "the internet" - or rather, the world wide web, I suppose - which drove me up the wall.

Come to think of it, "world wide web" sounds quite quaint now, too.

"disrupting the industry" sounds particularly dated given how the world looks now every industry has been "disrupted"
