Snacks

I've recently discovered chopped apricots.

I was going to make this thread yesterday while I was eating some salted peanuts but decided it was beneath me.

The thing I hate about dried apricots nowadays is they are soft and sweet. I like them tart and like leather like they were in the old days.

I love snacks. I love going to the Russian supermarket or - even better - the Chinese one and buying loads of weird stuff that you have no idea what it's going to be until you open the packet (although that did once lead to me almost dying cos I ate the thing to absorb the water in a packet of sweets my ex sent me from Japan, I didn't realise that the skull and crossbones motif was for real).

I'm eating pheasant biltong. It's fucking incredible, maybe one of the most umami-rich things I've ever tasted. On the label it say "may cobraun shot."

Portuguese are terrible at crisps, but in one of the many French supermarkets I discovered these beauties

A deliciously sweet flavour that reminds me of some peanut flavoured popcorn I used to eat in London - and a texture not unlike one of the classics of the crisp world, the legendary monster munch

Champions League starts again today - luckily I loaded up with beer snacks last visit to the Russian supermarket. I maintain that Russia is the undisputed master of such, although they don't have the full range here sadly.
