'Groundhog Day' In The Time of Corona

Everybody knows I was born on February 2nd, Groundhog Day. And that I'm the forum's biggest Bill Murray fan.

(Here's something me and @craner can bond over, after the nastiness of the Marvel thread.)

Doesn't this movie speak to us all now more than ever?

I feel totally trapped in my life at the moment.

This week I started thinking if I don't establish a new routine I'm going to go mad.

Is this my time to become a great pianist and ice sculptor?

Apparently it was originally stated in the script he's trapped in that single day for thousands of years.

Murray and Ramis clashed over the tone of the thing, iirc. Murray predictably felt it should be darker, Ramis lighter. I think Ramis probably won out overall, but that scene where he keeps trying to kill himself is very dark. The bit where he keeps trying and failing to save the homeless guy's rough too.

Appropriately enough I've said this before I think, but I looked up all his films to see why everyone suddenly started going on about him, and like ninety percent of them are mediocre or worse. How did he become a cult hero?
