Maybe but I hate modern witchcraft and a lot of the therapy which is offered to us plebs is boilerplate. So even that is limited by structural considerations. I've learnt a lot more through making a twat of myself over the years. which is not nice, not pleasant but it's just the way it is.

Totally true. Economic constraint and access to therapy is a huge consideration. I just offer up as an approximate answer to the general question posed by the thread.

my take on that is that in both cases your signifying an intent to change and setting your mind on change and focusiing your energies and attention on change and so that is what gives you the courage to divorce your wife... rather than anything integral to magic or therapy

Have you divorced your wife Lucius?

in a sense although it depends how broadly you define 'out' and the miscommunication in the thread (eg Gus saying, "why dont you just move house then?") is all to do with those varying interpretations

May be that many of us want to embrace the larger trend of which we are a part, but instead just feel icky or even miserable about being a part of capitalism.

Eh, now I'm inclined to be a bit more pragmatic about it, i.e. coming to the conclusion that academic miserablism doesn't help anyone, except professional theorists maybe.

I don't want to get in a semantic debate on what constitutes manipulation. Man watch t.v., man change. you called the media news cycle one of the main perpetrators of modern mental illness last week so we must agree.
I'm sorry Linebaugh I never want to be on the wrong side of you we are pals

I didn't think LITERALLY move to a new home. The cabin in the woods was SYMBOLIC of leaving SOCIETY.

I know all about that, because the Angelicism01 scene is very Team Tao, and Tao has a new book out called Leave Society. However, I also know this because once I was high on kratom in the backyard of a Bushwick bar, and we realized Tao was doing a reading at a bookstore a few blocks off, so we went and he was talking about dustification theory and 9/11 and we gave him some kratom afterward. So believe me. I know all about leaving society.

i don't understand most of what you lot are on about, but i found k punk and a lot of other bits and pieces great for helping me understand the world, different experiences i've had and so on. that's always been the value of spending time reading all this stuff, that it gives a description and an explanation of what its like living in england, living in the west, and so on. it's a kind of therapy in a way.

like D&G for example, if you can figure out / get someone to explain to you what they're on about, some of it is pretty useful in terms of eg giving you a more accurate description of what desire is.

i definitely don't want out, for what it's worth.

Suppose it were possible to get "out" of "it" - what would we then be "in", instead? Anyone have any idea?

New episode of my fave podcast. I think this touches on some of the stuff you mentioned above, Version. Memory and what this means, and erosion of the sense of class. The middle of the podcast is them trying to grapple with the crisis of meaning this has produced. Not coming up with any answers really but it's a fascinating listen. It's not out on pod platforms yet, this is a preview episode
