how will we be when we feel the rosy fingers of post covid dawn, if we even get there?

you've been at self-improvement innit? has that worked at all?
i've been mostly wallowing in denial and self indulgence and that seems to have been ok :)

im exercising more than i did previously becasue im back in the habit of riding my bike. my diet has got simpler. my coffee has got cheaper. but yeah, i really don't know. you need to be interacting with people to really get a sense of who you are probably. im still finding the experiment interesting however.

i was doing some great self improvement during the first lockdown but then in between lockdowns i started making money and enjoying myself and then that slid gradually into debauchery, which i am now in the process of recovering from.

i certainly havent learned any important lessons about myself or anything else. this month i keep saying i must start using my time better but then i just spend all day on dissensus again. its become a full time job but i do have to sort it out becasue my eyes dont like it and nor does my back. too sedentry. one of the best things i did in the first lockdown was having my rule about switching the internet off for six hours each day. that was a revelation.

scary thread but you're right. getting on for a year now and teams calls are getting harder and harder / more and more similar to dissensus.

ive been 29 days without drinking and i still feel terrible. usually i get a little perky reward for that kind of behaviour.

yes that's true, always the worst month anyway. i went for a night walk tonight, was very foggy. got pisswet through by the end. but i think that's the key thing, get out and about. your 6 hour no screen rule sounds like the medicine. maybe just 2 hours outdoors would do it.

yeah you'd go and meet your mates and have a drink in the pub in feb, but there;s no chance of that. that is what is unsettling abou tlockdown, those odd moments you catch when you are like - wtf is going on, i can't do x,y,z that i would normally not think twice about. it seems harder this time deffo. could be january, could be cos it's more serious now. my sister has got it now.

thanks lads.

yeah hopefully she's out of it soon, i've been getting her shopping in to help... but it just brings it home a bit when you're on the phone and someone close is very wheezy.

Spring is closer than it was at midwinter, but the new reality is unmapped. Recovery will be fragile, maybe no VE Day everyone off their tits style knees up. Or maybe there will be. Hope is the old pragmatism of not confusing the likelihood of positive outcomes with the daily mental grind. That’s a yes, no and maybe flip-flop all in one.

Change? Consolidate mental health, more treats all round, forced us to look at the nation we’re raising our kids in long and hard where the only sane response (personally) is off Plague Island. It’s been brewing for years, now it’s festering borderline sepsis. Side note, found myself cheering for Liverpool earlier, wtf is that about.
