Bellingcat (OSINT)

And that's just what I recall off the top of my head, without looking up all the details. No one contests that it was actually Novichok, that I recall. Maybe Craig Murray but he's absolutely insane anyway.

I don't think I remember anyone challenging the account that came out in the news of what happened, but I do. I read it as spy fiction. All total fiction. Including Sturgess and Rowley, just as we we're there for the World Cup, just fictional names. Just a cruel joke played on the public. I was so interested in what I was hearing I even bought Mark Urban's book, travelled to Salisbury and drove past the house which was being guarded by police, and don't doubt that Skripal was once an agent. Just that's it's unlikely any of what we were told happened actually happened.

Why I challenged Luka to read one of Bellingcat's investigations from end to end is that they are marshal such a wide range of evidence in favour of the cases they're making. They make convincing cases and show their working. I don't think you can dismiss all of this on the basis of one anomalous detail.

I think what Bellingcat do are interesting for sure. Just that some of it I think has to be taken as fiction.

i tried to read it but i couldnt do it. ultimately its meaningless to me. i thought i could read it as a spy story to sustain interest but i failed. someone got poisoned and died. or didnt die. or didnt get poisoned. or whatever happened.

You could always continue your investigations and see if you can meet Dawn Sturgess; family. I guess you could dismiss them as crisis actors though if you do.

This reminds me of some of the 7/7 conspiracy people I've read about, convinced enough of their case that they'd attack families of the victims. I know someone who died in that attack, a friend of my sisters. Now, it's possible she's living in Switzerland, paid off hiding under a false identity. But Occam's razor suggests otherwise. Orwell said something like "Some things are true, even if they're printed in The Daily Telegraph".

7/7 I don't deny happening. There was a bus blown up. Arguing that didn't happen would be like saying 9/11 didn't happen. I did get sectioned partly over this Skripal thing though so it's worth taking what I say with a pinch of salt. I had to travel to Salisbury when it was going on, stayed in a B&B for a couple of nights to investigate.

im not arguing that it didnt happen.
I know. I don't have any issue with what you're saying, don't blame you for not being interested either. Our mate here was interested enough to read a whole book about he Skirpal case at least.

The reason I went to Salisbury.

I watched this.

The next day it was in the news that he'd met with Czech Agents and they were digging up his driveway.

All I saw when I was there was a beautiful city with a lot of good pubs and a lot of police standing around guarding ZiZZis.

I wasn't saying you don't think that event happened. I was just using it for illustrative purposes.

There are people who argue it didn't happen - that's kinda my point. How do you differentiate between what's said about 7/7 and this case?

Happy to draw this conversation to a close if you wish. As you've been sectioned for something to do with your response to it, I'm not that comfortable talking about it with you.. Thanks for being frank about what happened to you.

Yeah it's difficult for me to talk about too. As a lot of my investigative work revolves around things that happened to me online so no one believes me, including the police and my psychiatrist. Probably best if we leave it.

I hear what you're saying about Turkey. I don't know it but I can imagine it. I agree that we are defanged here to some degree - if arguing on Dissensus changed anything they'd abolish it.

However, with Novara I could easily imagine a situation where a Corbyn government was using them as unofficial spokespeaople. Much more likely in 2017 ofc but that's why they put so much energy into the project - there was a chance for a minute they were going to step into that role.

I don't think there was. People exagerrate that 2017 election result, both corbynists and anti-corbynists. Honestly if we are speaking of a Corbyn cult, it exists on both sides of that spectrum, it's just that anti-corbynists are more a-loggers.
