Those aren't necessarily all negative stereotypes, or stereotypes with only negative connotations, though. At the very least they're some combination of physically tough, glamorous and/or extremely cunning. They might stare at you like they were about to kill you after some verbal misstep you didn't even realise you'd made, but then throw back their head and roar with bear-like laughter, slap you on the back so hard your drink spills, pour your another drink, pour themselves another five drinks, and then demolish you at chess. The women are inevitably supermodel-standard beauties or kindly babushka types with wrinkled smiles and cheeks like little red apples, depending on age. Etc. ect. etc. They are, at any rate, rarely stupid, boring or ridiculous, whereas Americans are often all three. Oh, and obese, too.

(And is anyone going to quibble with the fact that there actually is a fuck of a lot of organized crime in Russia?)
It's still a caricature.

When my gf moved to Manchester she was hanging out with people who were, if not gangsters, at least petty criminals, and she was kinda shocked by some stuff she saw and said so - and they were all like "What, but I thought everyone in Russia was involved in organised crime and saw people getting their head sawn off every day before breakfast?"

I'm inclined to say "So what?" - every country stereotypes every other. Are there not some pretty well-worn stereotypes of British people?
Yeah, and British people seem to think everyone hates them and is out to get them too. See: Brexit.

Let's Talk About Ceps
There are Slavs other than Russians, though. If you want to hear negative opinions of Russians, talk to Poles, Ukranians, Czechs, Slovenes...

Everyone loves the English

Not true, Turks hate your guts.

When I realised in 2002 that everyone loved the Americans more than the English that was a real bombshell moment for me. I mean you presided over one of the widest empires, and yet, you were laid to ruin by your own rogue speculators. Have some humility!

Not true. The Turks are our biggest supporters. A love story.

Four pages into my considered and thought-provoking thread on National Bolshevism and we’ve got a photo of a fucking Spoons breakfast and Third threatening to unleash the full wrath of the Turkish mafia on Luka’s English Lads Party.
The problem is no one has read him I guess
