people forget that Charlie Sloth was a rapper before he was a DJ...and a REALLY bad one at that

i heard this and 2 other tunes from him on Channel U one of them sampling The Cure's Lovecats and that was it

Wild Horses

First thing that comes to mind. Is this too old school? Do you want more up to date stuff? No idea how this stands up 30 years on tbh

If you really wanna go back? First UK electro track I think

I have no idea which of the various mixes would be the best - long forgotten

Is this the sort of thing you're after? Very English - lines like "It's How I feel, don't take the mickey, it is how it is, I'll show no pity", and my favourite: " I think you deserve a punch in the gob", but obviously in awe of the Rick Rubin sound with its unnecessary guitar hero antics

bandz ahoy
I went through a UK Hip Hop stage when I was younger, although I always found it thin pickings even when I was into it. Always felt like a less glamorous, drearier version of US rap.

Road rap/drill is when UK rap got consistently good IMO (then there was grime, of course, which I remember there being heated debates about in Hip Hop Connection e.g. around whether it was part of the hip-hop genre or not...)

Some old faves:

Klashnekoff: Murda
London Posse: Money Mad / How's Life In London
Braintax feat. Task Force: Godnose
Rodney P: Dedication
Roots Manuva: Witness (1 Hope) / Artical
Skitz feat. Rodney P, Skinnyman, Riddla, Wildflower etc. - Twilight of the Gods
Skinnyman - Council Estate of Mind
Blak Twang - 19 Long Time / So Rotten
Fallacy - The Groundbreaker
Foreign Beggars feat. Skinnyman, DVS - Hold On

I completely forgot Sway existed until you sent me down a little memory lane trip. I remember seeing him live in Nottingham and thinking he was great.
