I'm curious why it is Todd Edwards who is revered as a huge influence on UK garage - would the sound occurred if he never made records? There must have been other house and US garage being pitched up and played at the early Sunday sessions in the 90s? What is it about his recordings that makes him stand out?

Beast of Burden
The UK garage audience had a sweet tooth which TE perfectly catered for.

I‘ve twice as many Todd Terry (and respective aliases) records as Mr Edwards, but love both

Voted for the former based on that

@anyone did they ever collaborate?

A quick search on Discogs doesn't bring any up, but I should imagine if you wanted to get the two of them together it would cost big money..

They have met though - there's an interview with Edwards on the Red Bull site where he talks about the Sound Factory in NY:

The upstairs section was probably a room not too much bigger than this, and again, there was always producers that showed up. Like, Todd Terry would show up and I would always bother the hell out of him and tell him how great he was [...] He was patient at first, but you could tell I was annoying the hell out of him after a while. Because I would do... I can’t help it! He was a role model at the time, you know?
