Dissensus Raw: The Compilation - A Thread

Bandcamp a digital selection with a PDF and a track blurb. Some of Droid’s recent landscapes could compliment any imagery very well

If you can convert a whip around, 75-80 short press run might allow a record option, if you’re artefact inclined

Collaborative contribution between myself and @thirdform bringing the Anatolian-Northumbrian hooligan plunderphonic acid meltdown.

This blew my mind a little, at first I thought the intro was designed to grab my attention and would then settle down, but oh no, it just distorted and evolved into a whole new vista of sensory overload. It reminds me of hyperactive dreams I used to have as a child... in a good way? I'm not even sure. PTSD.

I re-edited mine into a more standard 4 minute track. Now sounding rather pedestrian alongside the others, but I'm sick of hearing it and won't ever be returning to fiddle with it. Having stretched it to 4 minutes, I feel @polystyle had the right idea suggesting 2-3 minute times. I think I'll be sticking with shorter tracks in my own work moving forward.

If not, not difficult to look into it and royalties go into it , to be dished out when they come in.
Should it ever actually generate revenue, happy for the pennies to go to the server costs of Dissensus.

I'm a big fan of Bandcamp. But if you do go with an artefact and need professional assistance with print-ready files, I used to be a professional designer with experience of vinyl and CD releases. Personally in this day and age, physical formats are dead to me.

All good so far , vibes are good,
and hey - whatever you feel about that 4m length , if that is what it takes, so be it and also nice to have a choice to cut something ,
a repetition or so ...
editing never ends : )

Quick note of feedback re: physical formats :

It just could be a 'bridge too far' to actually do any vinyl at all ...
Some projects are good on vinyl , some less so, some just don't seem to need it.
I find no problem though in vinyl sales, over the last 5- 10 releases on vinyl, they all sold, either right off or eventually.

Numbers vary widely for sure !

A physical release is an exciting prospect! Will cost a bit though as you said. Let's see how things pan out when more tracks are submitted and decide if it would work. Thanks for taking the initiative on leading the formats and technicals discussion @polystyle !

My entry ->

Ended up making this sort of cyber dubstepper.
both drops made my amp turn off during the peak
I'm really digging the synths in this, it very much feels like a neurofunk tune in halftime at first, but then on the second drop the sped up pace is fucking ace honestly. Percs instead of wobbles? YIS MON.
As much as I'm not huge on 80s percs these are massive man, somehow they sound very cohesive with the rest, not sure whether it's a matter of overall stylistics of the tune or your drum programming(!).
Tbh even the fills are so good the first drop paradoxically feels like the least characteristic chunk of the whole.

also care to share the dissensus raw productions jingle?

It's all grist
I think my ususal electronic-garden-shed-music-with-vocals tends to sit a bit uncomfortably in mixes so my offering(s) are a bit more low-key instrumental vibes. They might seem a bit basic and unremarkable but to me they're like a mood thing. There's this one or I think any of the others on my Soundcloud could be up for grabs. All titles are working titles and they've not been mastered so they need last touches.

Thanks! Drums' cohesiveness might come from the background drums, which are quite much the same sounds, but more reverb, pan and played slightly off-time. I didn't use background drums in the fills though, to get that proper 80s mechanical drum machine-feel. The track was supposed to be drum-heavy 80s industrial-styled track (and cyber/techno-y dub before that lol), so that's why I saw some effort in fills.
