I just watched all the highlights. What a night. I thought France were gonna go all the way again but its looking pretty wide open. That 2nd Benzema goal was amazing though.

So fed up of the papers trying to drum up all this anti "Ze Germans" sentiment as per usual, it's not even that I find it offensive, just boring, like Trump going through all his tired greatest hits cos they have nothing new to offer.

I've heard it's a completely one-sided rivalry too and the Germans don't really view us in that fashion. The Dutch are the ones they see as genuine rivals, iirc.

I've read that but I'm not convinced. Certainly the Dutch see the Germans as hated rivals that rolled over them and killed Anne Frank and..... aargh I mentioned the war.

But thing is I don't think most English see them as rivals any more than any of the other countries, whoever hands us our arse I always feel equally sick. Except when it was Iceland, that was the most painful.
