The Decline of the Chat Show

Charlie Rose turned out to be a creep too. A number of women who'd worked with him came forward saying he'd made lewd comments and phone calls and groped them.

Rose's interviews with the second wave PoMo crew are legendary tho... Wallace, Franzen, etc
I tried watching an interview he did with Amis and Elmore Leonard a while back and had to turn it off due to his interruptions. He was always butting in and derailing people's train of thought, putting words in their mouths.

In general I would rather read an interview than listen to or watch one. You can have music on in the background and it's always faster than sitting through the "performance."

There are some people who are great to watch being interviewed, e.g. Orson Welles. You don't get the same presence from print.

is not like other people
i watched a documentary recently where a chat show host was so mean to a stand up comedian, the comedian pulled a gun and shot him!

fortunately for the comedian, on his way to prison rioters rescued him from the police and made him into their leader / icon! it was very well shot, amazed i haven't seen the story in the news.

His struggles of an artist excerpt went through a phase of being used at the start of mix intros. M@W, Kerri Chandler, DiY....

Was it him who did that incredibly sleazy interview with Helen Mirren when he keeps going on about her tits?
