decent idea, terrible execution. Especially can't stand Green Gartside's voice, sounds like an undergraduate who never graduated. Although Derrida himself was not innovative, just for kids who didn't study midrash or go to madrasa to learn tafsir.

Wolfgang Voigt loves em. I can see why he does, but they just sound too British for me, in a ham-fisted way rather than dada. D.A.F do that better for me.

last thing I liked for a long while was "the sweetest girl". all the late-80s major-label new wave/dance remix hits hurt my ears, sounded really dated a year later. but then 15 or 20 years later, I really enjoyed "white bread black beer", when he no longer had dance floor pretensions and just wrote for really nice pop melodies.

i always get them mixed up with Milli Vanilli. Who came first? ive never listened to either group obviously. not my cup of tea.

Scritti.

Milli were the two models who got vilified for not singing on their records. They were more Baudrillard than Derrida.

Farian gave the project name "Milli Vanilli", with "Milli" taken from the nickname of Farian's then-girlfriend Ingrid Segieth, and "Vanilli" added to sound like the British band Scritti Politti.[13]
who knew? i think mv got un-cancelled at some stage? not saying their music is great, mind, but they were millivilified quite unfairly
