From "Voll Verdienst"

Light in the forearm it
lies in the
crook you can feel
it like quick
silver where is she now

My approach here was somewhat submissive, defusing the will to understand, and letting the words do their painting, and it yielded good results. This was a very short piece though, only a few pages.

"Light in the forearm" presumably referring to weight not illumination, like holding a baby. Quicksilver is mercury - quick silver could be something different, something living perhaps as in the quick and the dead,

Hasn't stuck so far as a routine, since that first reading. I would have posted, and will post, any further readings.

I underestimated the growing pains of this project, plus a recrudescence in video game addiction, but nonetheless I assure you there will be further integration of Prynne into the system.

To a large degree, until a better rhythm is found, much of this is still a manic, whiplash-ridden experiment. Bridges are being built, but its still an archipelago when you zoom out enough.

one of the tricky things with games and the internet is once youre in the habit nothing else is really possible.
it ruins your entire nervous system for any other task. just press the buttons, thats all you can do, stare at the
lights and press the buttons

But actually writing in the schedule like that helps. But sometimes forcing it has an adverse effect. Plus I'm still backed up on Gravity's Rainbow, which has more of a claim to that LIT slot than Prynne, but his poems are short and luka's prescription seems tenable in the long run.

everyone on earth would agree that prynne is more advanced than pynchon. pynchon is for kids ultimately.
i'd like to read during my sprained ankle time but at the moment im doing another playthrouhg of assasins
creed origins. luckily im coming to the end though and once ive completed it again i should be able to
move on with my life

Yeah really the only thing that works for me is to get rid of the console. I'd even go as far as to say that may be the best approach for others in this situation.

Similar with weed. I was smoking almost every day until I ran out, at which point my desire to smoke did not cross the threshold sufficient to get up and go out and buy more. Went two months without smoking, no problem.

Then I just went with my parents who were buying a cannabis plant, and I bought another little bag, smoked almost every day, just ran out today, and I sense no problem.

that is enough in the moment. the big block looks back at you, telling you you're wasting precious time, but you don't care. it's addiction

i've never got more than 50 pages into GR despite about 7 attempts. prynne is infinitely rewarding, his poems are never short

weird innit. i've never got more than 50 pages into neuromancer either. though i am a fan of william gibson's writing. that collection of short stories he did was incredible

I sometimes feel like GR is intended to stun the reader with overbearing, consolidated erudition and perversion. Well done in that respect, and tonally Pynchon has already greatly influenced me, but yeah there is still a good distance between him and what I think of as great literature. Really Ulysses is my only point of familiarity there.

Lately I've been more naturally drawn to the GOVT topic, watching congressional hearings and think tank panels with policy wonks and industry figures. Before that molecular biology was a major center of gravity, since subsiding into a supporting role on the margin.

I'm waiting for COMP to move into the spotlight. With the proper programming literacy, stuff can actually be built, and not merely theorized.

Again like crop rotations. Not sure how well I could, or even if I should, will a topic into focus. Time spent trafficking in a topic's technical zone, immersed in terminology, without managing to get a real footing, i.e. get a proper harvest, can amount to a sort of cover crop, providing fuel for a more robust harvest in the future.

Speaking as an enabler, consider trying one of the Fallout games. Made by the same people who made Elder Scrolls, and in some ways the games feel identical, just with totally different settings. Fallout is sci-fi apocalyptia where Elder Scrolls is fantasy.

The latest one, Fallout 76, is the current object of my addiction. But this one requires that you have an online membership, which is a recurring price and probably the reason I will stop playing it. I appreciate the ongoing cost in that respect, in that it provides the grounds for my stopping playing.
