Glad this is being well received as it partly feels like faking it. I never had the deepest crates when it comes to Techno, but at the same time this is what I lived on for a while so a lot of doing a list feels like getting it out of my system.
29) John Beltran - Nolita
Always had a soft spot for John Beltran, love a couple of his 90s albums, still got time for stuff he releases now. 2008 is a fairly recent track for me but this hits the spot as much as earlier stuff for me, just on the right side of melodic like his best stuff and with a pretty cool, almost 'walking', bassline. One for late summer evenings when I've just got back from fishing like tonight.
if its being too well recieved i can tell you that i think a lot of these tunes are really boring. on the other hand a handful of them are really pretty good. becasue i generally dont like music any more when i do put music on i tend to go for this sort of thing, which permeates the room and adds atmospherics witthout any of that fiddling with my emotions, just one paced, doof doof doof. thats all i'll have on nowadays.
I still have 70 tracks to go so it's bound to get a bit boring with what I'm capable of. I might as well just post a few fillers like the one below.
30) Infiniti - Hardrive
Other than having a pretty great misspelled title, a lot of Detroit tracks have the same melody, this one from Juan is one of them. But I like the melody. It's all part of not really liking music. When I come to write anything I end up with drums and a bassline similar to this. It reminds me of a few Suburban Knight tracks, but is also quite amateur and also 'singular' because of that, still has a magic touch that elevates it above the mediocre. Thinking about it, I think it might sample a MK track, I recognise it from somewhere.
A lot of the tracks I like are what would have been 'interludes' in a typical Atomic Jam set. This one's fairly recent but cavernous and bleepy minimal from Steve Bicknell. I will get to a few bangers later but it's tracks like this that can make a loopy dancefloor Techno set interesting were I a DJ. It's a 'night siren'.
