DLaurent's Techno Top 100

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
GAS is the music that most captures the feeling I get from acid, the emotional and sensory indeterminacy (with sudden swells of either/both). Thinking mainly of Koningforst here.

I was into it before I did acid and listened to it but listening to it on acid "unlocked" it for me.

GAS is the music that most captures the feeling I get from wanking 10 times a day, the emotional and sensory indeterminacy (with sudden swells of either either/both). Thinking mainly of Koningforst here.

This one sounds like Burial,

He used that at the start of a mix. 😁 I remember trying to find out what synth was used, it's a simple reverbed production where composition is the strongest element but I still wanted to know. I thought it would be a basic FM synth but people were telling me Kurzweil as he was known to use a K2000. Got me into watching Ray Kurzweil videos for a while and wanting one of his synths.

61) Tronikhouse - The Savage and Beyond

And then there's Belgium, another quandry for me, I know R&S records and I know Kevin Saunderson, think he used this riff on a few records, has a Metalheadz vibe to it. All the black keys if I'm right. That's how I play it anyway and this is a track I come back to, savage...

The most innovative out of the Belleville three for sure.

63) Female - No Sense No Reason

The great thing about the best Birmingham techno tracks is that are just bleepy enough to have a 'pop' sensibility underneath all the thunderous percussion.

I actually prefer his earlier stuff. tense percussion jacking up the nervous system.

i remember when the gas LPs were coming out and were highly rated all over the place, but when i listened to them in the rough trade shop they sounded like murky underwater atmospherics with an equally muted 4/4 kick. as someone paying close attention to german electronic music at the time this was not what i was looking for at all. picture my dismay when one of their albums was rereleased with some fanfare 20 years later

You mean the likes of Mille Plateau, Soenig, etc?

Thanks for the interest. I'm waiting till I'm in the mood to pick the last 35 as that will decide what direction I go in.

I'll do a playlist certainly.

A playlist as promised. 64 tracks - I can't work out which one is missing from the 65 so far.

I've got a little bit behind (stuck for want of a better word doing this list). I'd give it a B+ if I'm being generous so far. So if anyone wants to help with the remaining 35 tracks I'd be grateful as it will teach me what I'm missing.
