But my suspicions persist, despite greater terminological sensitivity. I thinking typicality is relative, but I also sense in the fabric of neuropsychological difference the potential for what could be considered extraordinary insightfulness, secular or otherwise.

How certain thoughts, namely those which may be considered especially insightful, are understood and expressed would seem to depend on what that person has at their epistemic and linguistic disposal, given their particular life circumstances.

A little autism is like a sprinkle of salt or pepper on a personality it really tops off the meal, brings it all together, gives it character

Not formally diagnosed nor ever medicated, but I can relate, to no small degree, to some of these neuropsychological states insofar as they are understood discursively. It would comfortably explain much of my life, and I think that is a solid raison d'etre for diagnosis. That said, I would be on the extremely functional end, and in that sense I ought to know my place, as it were.

But I cringe at the prospects of approaching these labels and communities as if I am browsing for an outfit or applying for a club.

Obviously there are plenty of people out there who have neuropsychologically anomalous states, from the eyes of western science, that have burdened their ability to navigate life much more than mine have burdened me. If anything, I feel enhanced.

Ever seen a UFO/UAP?
Have not, but I am confused as to why so many people tether UFOs to extraterrestrial or supernatural agendas, when really all the term intrinsically means is that an airborne object was detected without being identified - a far cry, it seems, from many of the connotations piled onto this term.
