have to admit I've gone through phases of listening to some of the ECM/hat ART jazz...maybe more improv/jazz, really, but a fair amount if it is Scandinavian/Austrian/German (and white).

Do you mean Larkin is like Luka will be when he reaches his sixth decade or are you saying that Larkin is what Luka would have been like if Luka had lived in the 1950s.?

It could be that the inability of the whites to take over jazz is related to their eventual take over of the blues
