Didn't that clog up Ethereum, traffic-wise?

yeah, when it went public - I was only a beta tester on a play network where you got toy ETH

I couldn't believe it when people paid thousands for a gif - the crappy bears that seem to be doing the rounds at the moment just seem like a poor imitation of something that wasn't that great to start with

It was the "breeding" aspect of cryptokitties that interested me as I have a very vague background in bioinformatics...

I started an interactive module for Solidity called CryptoZombies, and it was a similar premise. A zombie sprite, with a few modular cosmetic features, would "eat" a human spite, and the resulting sprite would have a mix of the cosmetic features of the two.

So this new one has four different runs manually edited together and configured. It started with the initial image, a cropping from a piece of her's called Phrenology Man:

And the first run was on text input

Phrenology Man | in the style of Betye Saar

with image interval 2.

And I ran that for maybe 20 iterations, then took that final output, and used it as the initial frame for a second run, with text input:

pink | halo | shine

with image interval 2

and I ran that forward and reverse, to get back to the final image of the first run, which I reused as the initial image for the third run, which had the text input:

afro | vibration | ripple

with image interval 2

and I ran that forward and reverse all the way back to the initial image of the first run, the actual cropping, which became the initial image for the fourth run, which had text input:

crystalline | smoke | violet

again with image interval 2.

So here is the final gif, with 239 images, mostly repeats.

These are remixes, really. Stochastic, algorithmic remixes. But it needs a better name. Neural Remixes? Hybrid Remixes? GAN Remixes?

this was one of my failed attempts, but you can see it is trying to write the word multiple times..

Toward a Mythos of Extropy | black metal album by 'Clinamenic' | in the style of black metal album art
I like that story in some of the articles about how people accidentally discovered that if yoh put "unreal engine" as the style, it would do that slick computer graphic style.

It's fascinating cos it's literally mining the text of the datasets.

Wonderful work on this thread clim. I think with what I've been trying to do (get a face to appear on a tree?), I maybe just need to scale down the iterations massively. Like maybe 20 would do. You can see it here in this composite. It's gets the face quick and then goes made doing other weird shit giving him a Hitler moustache

Also I never really looked properly at any of your grandmother's images but they look really good, I'm gonna investigate. Can see Chris ofili particularly but also kerry james marshall. The colours are great and unexpected
