Women who can ROCK

the interviewer asks why kit doesnt talk about any women, which is a trite and disegenuous gotcha question but part
of the answer is that with some music what you are attracted to is specifically the masculine aspects, supply your own
scare quotes as necessary of course. rock never really appealed to me because the image of masculinity it presented
seemed risible

Rock music is haram sorry.

Raki taverns are alright though.

Cmon Thirdform, I appreciate a good raki tavern as much as anyone—when they bring the nice lil melon platters out, the bottles of water so everyone can mix their raki differently—but be a pluralist with us

Note that everything I posted is not women trying to be masculine but like, "Wall of Feeling"—Phil Spector x country ballad or something.

Actually, I should've named this thread "Wall of Feeling," but alas

Here's some women not trying to be masculine:

And here's some more music they make while not trying to be masculine:

But right, you didn't mean "rock" at all, you meant "wet".

Pluralism is for bourgeois humanists.

Coming from Tribune Mag, yes, it's a trite and disengenuous question. But me and Web eschatology have framed that question in other ways, why not works which are more thoughtful, less direct, less based on the immediate pleasure principle. I think it's a fair cop and I slightly resent that the book doesn't seemed to have tackled it. I mean by all means inflame the acid communism/mark fisher crowd cos for the love of all things holy Burial needs to be gotten over, but I think, inherently its a good, dialectical question.

Of course the book cannot be everything for everyone and I appreciate that. But the central premise I find hard to logically derive. To say the future is not cancelled, or that there is a creative destruction, is to implicitly argue that music is the best its ever been. Yet I don't think even the book is arguing that, merely that the future has been humanised. But capitalism lives not by creative destruction, but destructing the already dead. This is my problem with the likes of Blackdown seeing echoes of jungle in UK drill, they're basically thinking about the music external to the music itself. How much does the future paradigm even make sense in that context.

And as I've always said, the future in music rarely has to do with technical innovation excepting early electronic music. It's always an imaginary to do with science fiction even when it rejects bladerunner, If it's not Bladerunner it's robocop, if it's not robocop its pastoralism and ethnic kitsch. i do not see how you can reject that, which in a way i think is the correct move, and yet still say the future is not cancelled, as if it ever needed to be cancelled rather than that mode of thought reflected a specific millennial zeitgeist which future generations cannot relate to.

Are you surprised at thirdform wading into a thread about something they dislike and have no interest in so they can indulge some performative hate and then instead go on about their own personal hobbyhorses instead of the topic at hand?

whats this got to do with women exactly?

The correct move here is to argue that woman can only be defined in relation to man. That's how to confuse the tribune lot. I.E: accuse them of being misogynists by squeezing women into a diversity box of their own making.

Fine. Why'd you invent budweiser then. A beer which tastes like mineral water? which kind of civilised aristocratic nonces would even consider such an idea to be a good thing?
