The importance of "bad" music/art

no exaggeration to say he is one of the most importatn figures in World History.

91 million views on youtube alone, probably 2 billion total listens on all online platforms, who knows how many on limewire when that was still kicking.

Sure we can all laugh but the fact is that this is about as good or better even than the majority of people could manage even if they trained for years

Brings up the issue of to what extent "difficulty" matters in terms of an artistic achievement. All that AI art you see now - obviously writing the algorithm to make that happen is tremendously complex and challenging, but one gets the impression that now it's just a matter of feeding some words into a machine and this incredibly detailed, rendered image popping out the other end.

Maybe that's a side issue though. Was interesting reading this thread again. And oh how I remember that day in regents park.

Haha, yeah, I saw this monstrosity too. Was going to post it here but couldn't decide which thread would be best for it.

they've done the shading and wrinkles quite well, it's just a shame her head is pointing in a different direction to her face

no use for a witticism
Opted out of some live improvised music this week on the grounds that as their recorded "written" stuff is awful, taking a chance on an improvised performance being any good would be pretty stupid

Loads of amazing music at the inept/outsider end of the curve, but I suppose mediocrity has its place too. Particularly in DJ-based genres, where you use the filler to manage the energy levels and emphasise the peaks. Of course you can end up with Berlin techno, where the eternal plateau of the marathon party leads to everything being filler.
