robot (n.)
1923, from English translation of 1920 play "R.U.R." ("Rossum's Universal Robots"), by Karel Capek (1890-1938), from Czech robotnik "forced worker," from robota "forced labor, compulsory service, drudgery," from robotiti "to work, drudge," from an Old Czech source akin to Old Church Slavonic rabota "servitude," from rabu "slave," from Old Slavic *orbu-, from PIE *orbh- "pass from one status to another" (see orphan).

Only Leto's character in that film is an unfettered, superhuman zealot, rather than the sort of vocational public executive I have in mind.

Imagine a company being financially incentivized to hold its executives to holistic transparency standards regarding personal expenditures. It would seem to rule out the sort of normal life that privacy affords, hence why I consider it vocational, in a manner not unlike how I think public service should be vocational.

Another form of "transparency" that seems particularly prevalent atm is people psychoanalysing each other. There's a constant searching for subtext and therapy and therapeutic terms are simultaneously praised and used as weaponry, e.g. ironically asking people who hurt them when they dare voice a negative opinion or telling people they need to see a shrink.

Lindsay Ellis doing a vid on whether or not Loki (Marvel) is a narcissist feels very much like a marker of where culture is atm.

Acute/chronic stress is real, appropriation of frameworks misapplied too doesn’t help

Weird times, fisting research and lectures should definitely be ring-fenced for funding

Sounds like a variation on being a concern troll.

This sort of thing completely eliminates any sense of mystery about the world and suffocates the imagination. Everything has to be pulled apart and diagnosed, sanitised and packaged in horrible, antiseptic language.
