I never once heard the name Lee Perry on the radio and I love lee Perry you might hear about bunny Lee but never Lee Perry, for whatever reason
I doubt I listened to black music radio as much as you, but surely it was all contemporary stuff. I'd rarely hear say - Alton Ellis, on the radio.

All the weirdness - if you look at lot of the tracks people are posting today, he had the gift choosing absolutely fire vocalists and songwriters.

I've got them all. All, I think, from 1997, before his voice got fucked
Was reading some dancehall thread on ilx a while back and they were all loving sizzlas early 2000s post conscious stuff, and I listened to some tunes and his voice sounded totally fucked. I was totally mystified as to the appeal - actively painful
