Let's Talk About Ceps
A first for me yesterday: Clathrus archeri, the octopus stinkhorn, or devil's fingers. One of those gross ones that propagates spores by attracting flies with a scent like a rotting dead animal, much like our native common stinkhorn. These ones aren't native to Britain or even the northern hemisphere, but are thought to have been accidentally introduced from Australia.
