i like the idea of nachos for instance but nachos are the most horrible sad depressing food in the world specially pub nachos

Nope. Only Sagres.
They do take out the onions and gherkins to make them blander though in line with local taste. I've actually given up going cos gf always has a massive argument with them about this, just more hassle than it's worth. Actually we at that beach right now and I steered her away from it...

theres a second layer restaurant chains, just above fast food, that do ‘sit down’ style American food. Chillis, Applebee’s, TGI Fridays. sliders are a staple. Loaded nachos. Cobb salads. fruity margaritas.

i would assume the equivalent is going to wimpy and eating your bender in a bun with a knife and fork and then having a cup of tea

Turkish resturaunts are beginning to occupy an interesting niche here. everyone seems to feel welcome and the food is interesting without being challenging. lots of office party bookings and so on. big spaces. flirty waiters with hairy chests. lager on tap.
