But arguably these seemingly rhetorical and semantic adjustments may be more impactful in times as polarized as this, when partisan language is so often extreme and uncompromising.

But I agree with you, that progress needn’t ultimately cater to the sensibilities of non-progressives.

well yeah, but it's a little stifling to insist on revisiting gender definitions rather than accept that a lot of women are killed by men

I don’t know the stats, or how the stats are obtained, but I see no basis or reason for not accepting that.

If you’re your intention is to call attention to one of the manifold concerns largely specific to women, then I would say that intention is perfectly justified.

Being not a gender essentialist means that some vague amorphous body of people called "men" who commit homicides has nothing to do with the vague amorphous body of people called "men" who are the victims of homicide. They're different people they're not "the same"
in fact some of those so called men inevitably will be perps and subsequently victims, but i think we put this to bed now

It's a bit grim the way media and the various mechanisms for documenting this sort of thing can't help but turn it into entertainment. Apparently there's a huge market for "true crime" stuff, podcasts etc. I'm sure Netflix or someone will have a documentary out soon.

but getting upset about that kind of thing is a waste of energy, people love to gossip and etc. its when you have news crews on peoples lawns 24/7 that it gets shameful

You already have the suspension of disbelief on your side, as a producer of original True Crime content. In fact it seems like there would be fewer legal obligations to contend with, than if you were to produce true True Crime content.

Oh I’m not upset about the notion of true crime being staged, if that was what you’re saying. But I do agree that actual true crime spectacles can veer into scummy levels of invasiveness and insensitivity.
