House of God used to have a third room, it played an 'eclectic' mix of music, basically rare grooves from what I remember.

I think @thirdform has been to HOG, maybe he will remember? And I'm not sure if other raves had the same thing going on, at least not quite in the same way as Techno in one room, and rare grooves in the next... as a 'chill out' room.

Can anyone refresh my memory of what would have been played in that room or have ideas of what should be played?

I seem to remember a good mix of music so it makes it a hard one to answer and for me to remember. Could be anything like this.

I doubt any of those actually got played but it's a start.

Like disco/disco-y house I think? The moodymann seems a good shout.

that's such a good selection of tunes. give us more of what you think was being played at room three!

assuming there’s a third room to hide in

most have been “we’ve got too many cooks here, let’s dilute the broth” but plenty of people cut their teeth in such gaffs

I remember room 2 being a lot of Drum and Bass too as played by DJ X. A lot of tunes he made himself I think. Amateur tech step tunes that didn't quite sound right on a system but sometimes also blew your mind as a result. I was always too mashed to remember what was going on in any room, let alone room 3. But I remember room 3 being like a stepped up version of Snobs, that was a cheese club that played a good mix of cheesy tunes on an awful sound system. So more than likely stuff like this.

I don't remember room 3 sounding anything like this but I guess it depends who was playing in there. HOG always had a tripped out vibe.

Not just HOG but it's cool to have a second or third room that allows a bit of experimentation or whatever. Wang in Hacney I used to love, the main room was pretty much always electro, the third room was pretty much always dub, but it was the second room which didn't seem to have a particular music policy and as a result of which allowed a bit of a surprise.... normally something with a vibe between boshing electro and heavy dub but that leaves quite a bit of room.

I can barely remember what they played at HOG in the third room but that was the general gist, anything goes. I remember hearing Rhythm & Sound tracks in the Techno room and wondering what was going on.

i finally put a little mix together of what i consider the best tunes from page 1 of the thread.

Madoo - Give Me Your Love
Womack & Womack - MPB (Missin' Persons Bureau)(Frankie Knuckles Paradise Ballroom Mix)
The B-52's - Mesopotamia
Wet - That's The Game
Smith & Mighty - Time To Rhyme (feat. The General)
Dennis Coffey-Scorpio
Rare Earth - I Know I'm Losing You - (Stereo 45 Version)
Kwame - Only You
Seefeel - Spangle
SNOW - Runway
Family of Percussion - Here Comes The Family
Psychic TV - Interzone

B-52s - who knew. Great track that. Also the keen eyed will spot Snow in there towards the end. Turns out I was totally wrong about the Busta Rhymes / Snow comparison. Snow is, in fact, a much greater artist. Seefeel I've heard a bit before but this tune is really lush.
