The Great North Dissensus Pub Session

My comment above isn't specific to a place, I'm just saying that over my life I have seen and heard countless northern types making these claims - my Dad is a Manc and his entire extended family all live within about a mile of each other near Whitefield. He (ok and my cousin Sophie) are the only ones who have ever been South of Birmingham yet all of them and their friends will happily tell me what people down South are like.

My gf had a similar experience when she moved from Russia to Yorkshire - her life was honestly made a misery by backwards yokels with two modes; the first being constant and hilariously witty bullying with the men bestowing on her genius nicknames such as vodka and cheeky girl, drawing deeply from their knowledge of Russia (which could be summarised in its entirety as "They make vodka there and it's probably the same place as Romania") while the women followed suit but with a vicious edge cos she had the thoughtless temerity to be slimmer and better looking than them "ee that cheeky girl won't be able to eat them biscuits and stay thin for much longer"; the second mode, of course, being a continuous and unrelentingly proud assertion of how warm, friendly and welcoming they themselves were....

She particularly recalls the goodbye drinks when she left the company preparatory to moving to London; a whole evening of the salt of the earth queuing up to friendlily and warmly tell her how shit her life would be in London, how unhappy she would become and how the cold and reserved Londoners would never be able to give her the welcome she had received in God's own county. Several told her they would rather die than make that same move.
That sounds pretty hellish actually.

@mvuent is there any sign you can give us that you are still alive and the original @mvuent not a clone
They definitely murdered him. Think about it. They met up in the woods at some fucked looking old shack, you never see mvuent's terrifed face in the photos, just Linebaugh walking ominously behind him, he isn't in the one in the bar at all and now Gus has fled to Europe in such a hurry he's lost his wallet...

you need to drop this antiquated stereotype about warm and friendly northerners, literally no-one apart from grandmas and thick people like you say it

It isn't antiquated, northerners think southerners are a bunch of polite softies and when they encounter us, they are like ermargerd they are so rude.

They are part of a different nuum. I'm kinda undecided. I saw em a few years ago and they were OK but not quite what I was hoping for. They're one of those that could do a different show every night. The one I saw they had this strange almost disco vibe.

Definitely not dissensus material but I reckon it would be a cool night.

I love ashtray navigations, have a half-dozen of the CD-Rs and the massive "greatest imagery hits" comp.

Also Manchester doesn't have a proper techno scene. Not after 808 state anyway. You won't hear Woody Mcbride mindfucker hard acid in that city. Morely at least (had) the orbit but even now. Sheffield is the closest city to london in that regard, heard Dexorcist drop this at 4 AM outdoors.

Also @catalog my junglist mate says white hotel is bare hipster.

Can you tell me which one will sodomise my brain on 15 tabs of acid cos one of my gig mates in leeds was mates with the dubshlane girl, but I never really found anything of there which was super out enough for london raised heads.

nonsense i saw them on the same bill as @bunnyhausen and @martin was there too
Sorry @woops i made the classic mistake of thinking dissensus material was just Reynolds nuum and autotune which seems to be the raging focus

You can't take advantage of global panic and chaos rewrite the constitution. K-Punk would turn in his grave.

We like rap, R&B, reggae, house, techno, ' the hardcore continuum ' and grime. And that's it. Nothing else ever. Except The Police which is the one post punk group we collectively accept.

I have tried multiple times to talk about all the other music I like but continually get shut down and its exhausting.

You only crawl out of the woodwork to have a go when there's an opportunity you sadist.

that's actually sounds like it would be really good
It was a bit of a weird day/night, like a noise all dayer in Hebden Bridge. I ducked out for food when guttersnipe were on, which turned out to be the only thing everyone agreed was good. And when I got back for ashtray nav, they were doing a proper knees up freak out thing that everyone was dancing to. At precisely the moment I couldn't really do that

You don't know what you are on about.

With regard to the North I mean. But let's not bother going there.

And yes twh is hipster heaven but what isn't? I would say there was a brief honeymoon period in summer of 2017 which is probably before your mate went.
