The Great North Dissensus Pub Session

lots of it has to do with real estate, just too expensive here to have the space. there are practically no clubs in Manhattan anymore (aside from corporate venues like Bowery Ballroom, Sony Hall), cost prohibitive. There are places out in industrial sections of Brooklyn/Queens, but nothing like TWH.
Is Trans Pecos still a thing? That felt pretty close to TWH last time i was over (admittedly a couple of years ago now)

yes, great place but I imaged TWH is a larger space. they also book more DJ nights than artist performances, IIRC.

Twh is pretty small tbh. Like one not very big main room, another smaller bar area. I dunno what the capacity is, but it's only a few hundred. The bigger club space in Manchester is warehouse project but I've never been to it

ah. ok. hard to tell by the photos I've seen online. so they probably are about the same size, then.

I really want to check that place out... or better still, dj there. Both seem a long way way off at the moment sadly, especially as I lost my passport on Friday. Don't even know how I go about getting a new one.

Got the train to long Eaton and walked along the canal to Beeston, there's a nice pub there on the marina, its like being at the seaside.

Extremely warm yesterday, had my big winter coat but just ended up carrying it.

I was wondering about how bars are in NYC cos today, after about five minutes in Cosmos, one of Suspender's (really, particularly nice - so much so I feel it has to be stated for the record) friends said "There are no places like this in NY" which really amazed me, even as an exaggeration, cos although it is a very cool place, I just wouldn't have thought of Cosmos as in any way unique.
Perhaps he was just being overly polite, I guess that's what nice people do, or at least so I've heard.
From their Instagram it looks like a house someone turned into a bar with little remodelling which is uncommon. Is this more common in Europe?
NY is very cramped and expensive though, probably hard for that operation to work logistically
Yeah pretty much covered already but

Smoking cigs and rolling doobies indoors? $2 beers? Not completely swarmed? Live music and DJs and pool? It's just how casual, affordable, low-key, and unregulated Cosmos is. DIY venues get shut down in New York every 3-6 months. Things just don't last long. Any time you stumble up a good thing like Cosmos, it's gone by end of year.

we were in the worst pub in the world. sufi forced us to go ther cos he said you could get cheap whisky and smoke weed openly. which was true, but the downside was it was flagrantly satanic
